November 15th, 2007
Yet another wrong number. This on my voicemail today…
Bottom line: Too much kibble, not enough wet. We’re
going to get this wet/dry dog food thing sorted out!

How To Cook Your Life
October 5th, 2007
In 1283, Zen master Dogen, founder of the Soto Zen School in Japan, wrote a cookbook in which he encouraged readers to cultivate mindfulness through simple kitchen chores like washing rice and kneading dough. How to Cook Your Life is a documentary film filmed at the Scheibbs Buddhist center in Austria and the San Francisco Zen Center which follows cooking classes by Zen teacher Edward Brown. Entertaining, practical, and full of humor, Brown applies Dogen’s ancient Buddhist principles to modern day cooking, life and thought. Check out the preview.
How to Cook Your Life opens on Friday, October 26 at the Lankmark Theatre at Embarcadero Center in San Francisco, the Smith Rafael Film Center in San Rafael, and other theaters across the country shortly thereafter.

Jobby Roger
September 19th, 2007
In honor of International Talk Like a Pirate Day, I ordered a Jobby Roger for my MacBook Pro. (Below: as seen on Cali Lewis’ mac on GeekBrief.TV.) For history of the “Jobby Roger”, see Folklore.org. “‘Tis better to be a pirate than join the navy.” Arrrrrg!

UPDATE (9.25.07): My Jobby Roger arrived today with a most excellent hand-torn
note from The Dread Pirate Gregg (of West Hills, CA
). Avast…

Another Dog-Related Voicemail (audio)
August 30th, 2007
Yet another wrong number relating to dogs. What’s the deal?
Someone left this message on my voicemail today….
OK, I’m no dog expert, but I’m thinking ten pounds of kibble
isn’t going to last long. Plus, I bet you could mix a little water in
with the dry food and use less of the more expensive wet food.
My question: is there a quantity price break for twenty or thirty
pounds of kibble? Perhaps this message was for Smokey?

Just discovered that one of my favorite weekend radio shows, NPR’s Car Talk, is now available as a free podcast. Exciting since I generally miss most of the show while out running or cycling. Now I can take it with me.

Alanis Morissette - “My Humps” Cover?
April 3rd, 2007
Alanis Morissette covers the most ridiculous song ever created. If I didn’t hear it on Energy927 this morning I wouldn’t have believed it…
Original Black Eyed Peas, “My Humps”.
Right. OK then.
